Question by Sarah: How much does a Broadway play cost?
My parent’s 25th anniversary is in December and I really want to send them somewhere special. I was thinking they could stay overnight in NY City and see a Broadway show.
I’m wondering, how much would it cost for 2 people to go to Broadway and then how much would it cost approximately for them to stay in at least a semi-nice hotel for one night? I’d also like them to have money to be able to have a nice dinner somewhere too icon wink Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the cost?

Broadway plays costs depend on whether the tickets are for a matinee or evening, weekday or weekend, seat locations, and ticket demands. Generally, about $ 60 a ticket sounds right. However, you might want to check out website http://www.broadwaybox.com, which sells discount tickets for most Broadway shows. It may not have every single performance available but many are, and you can get the tickets in advance and print out the tickets at home. I’ve used broadwaybox.com for theater tickets in NYC and Chicago and have always been happy with the availability (and the discounts).

Another possibility is TKTS, which sells same-day discount tickets but NYC theaters don’t release these tickets until the morning of the show so it’s difficult to predict what shows will be available, and there can be up to an hour or more wait in line at the TKTS booths. There are several locations in NYC.
